“The Anointing of the Second”

Great read for leaders!


As a young person in church, I learned a lot of valuable lessons being under someone’s leadership. Among them, I learned what it takes to be a leader. I learned about my gifts and callings, some I didn’t realize I had until they were called and at times pulled out of me. But, the most valuable lesson I learned from my leaders was and still is the anointing in being the second. A lot of people in the secular and spiritual arena are on a “full on” pursuit of being “the one,” but never learned the lessons that come with being “the second.”

The second is not always the Vice President, the Assistant Coach or the Assistant Pastor; the second is the one that is willing to submit under another. It’s the one that can see the vision of another and find their purpose within that vision. Isn’t that what…
